A man has been charged with murder three years after he allegedly shot someone in Humboldt Park near Chicago police officers who witnessed the attack.
Kyrell Pittmon, 22, allegedly shot and killed Mutasim Sulieman, 33, near Division Street and Lawndale Avenue on May 3, 2019, police said.
At the time of the shooting, which police said stemmed from a possible robbery, two officers saw the shooting and ran after the gunman, shooting at him. The gunman jumped into a waiting silver car and took off, police said at the time. Police said it was unclear if the gunman fired at officers.
Sulieman was shot in his chest and died, and a weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.
Pittmon was arrested Wednesday in the 1100 block of South Oakley Boulevard, police said.
He was expected to appear in court later Thursday.
