(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified a Chicago man who allegedly dumped the body of a woman on the side of a road in Old Mill Creek late last month.
Thirty-seven-year-old Juan Vega-Montoya, of the 2100 block of North Narragansett Avenue, is, at this point, locked up in Lake County on a charge of concealing a homicidal death.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, he was in an argument with 39-year-old Megan Lewis, also of Chicago, and he strangled her to death. She was 16 weeks pregnant. It allegedly happened on Nov. 26, in his car in Chicago.
The Sheriff’s Office said he left her body in the car for two days before driving to Lake County and dumping the body along Hunt Club Road.
Physical evidence left at the crime scene led investigators to identify Vega-Montoya as a suspect. After reviewing hours of video surveillance, detectives determined it was Vega-Montaya who picked up Lewis.
Because she was murdered in Chicago, the Sheriff’s Office said, CPD and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office have jurisdiction and it is expected that murder charges will be filed against Vega-Montoya.
