Two gunmen carjacked a 22-year-old man and fatally shot him before speeding away in the man’s vehicle Wednesday morning in Lake View on the North Side.
Another man in their vehicle, 38, was not injured.
The two men were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 700 block of West Waveland Avenue just before 4 a.m. when two gunmen approached and demanded the vehicle and their belongings before opening fire, Chicago police said.
The younger man was shot in the chest and back and was taken to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. The older man was uninjured.
The gunmen entered the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, officials said.
Area 3 detectives were investigating.
