Man fatally shot outside Hammond liquor store, police say

HAMMOND, IND. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Hammond police are investigating a fatal shooting Thursday night outside a liquor store.

It happened at Nick’s Liquors on Calumet Avenue at about 8:30 p.m.

According to police, the shooting occurred outside in the parking lot.

A statement said it “was the result of an altercation that took place inside the business.”

One man, a bystander, was shot in the chin and shoulder, according to police. He was in stable condition.

The second man was shot in the chest and hand and was killed.

Police have provided no more information.

They’re asking witnesses to come forward.
