CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man is hospitalized in critical condition after falling from the third floor of a Near North Side building.
Police said they had received a call about someone trespassing at an apartment building in the 500 block of West Elm shortly before 8 p.m. Monday. A witness had seen the man jumping from a 5th floor balcony to the fourth and then down to the third floor.
But, after he reached the 3rd floor, he apparently slipped and fell the rest of the way, to the ground.
Police said the man suffered blunt force trauma and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police are trying to determine what the man was attempting at the time.
