Man shot, killed by police in Port Barrington after wounding woman, firing at officers

PORT BARRINGTON, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police shot and killed a suspect overnight after he shot a woman and opened fire on responding officers early Tuesday in northwest suburban Port Barrington, authorities said.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Police said deputies were called to a home in Port Barrington for a report of domestic violence in the 200 block of Manchester Lane at about 1:20 a.m. Officials said that as soon as deputies arrived on the scene, a suspect began shooting at them and a woman who was there.

Deputies returned fired, killing the man.

The woman was taken to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville with injuries that were not life threatening, officials said.

No officer was hit The Major Investigation Assistance Team will be investigating.
