Man killed in Rogers Park apartment fire, CFD says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man was found dead in a Rogers Park apartment building basement following a fire.

Chicago Police arrived at the building on Fargo near Damen at about 2:20 a.m. and discovered the fire. The Fire Department soon arrived and put out the flames coming from the laundry room.

There, firefighters found a man in his mid-50s unresponsive, the CFD said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to CFD, the fire appeared to be accidental and no smoke detectors were heard inside the building.

There were no other injuries.
