Evanston fire officials said first responders were called just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to Lighthouse Beach, where man was trapped against the breakwall.
Evanston Fire Department water rescue members reached the victim from the shore and were able to stabilize the situation, and the victim and rescuers were brought aboard Marine 21.
Officials said the victim refused an ambulance to an emergency room. Two Evanston Fire Department members were injured during the rescue and were treated for minor injuries.
