CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning on a CTA Red Line platform on the South Side.
The train had just arrived at the Garfield stop when, police said, there was gunfire.
They initially said it happened on the train.
An update said the man was standing on the platform when he was shot.
He then fell into the open doors of the train where he was found when police arrived.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
According to police, he told them he was shot by an unknown person and refused to give them any other information.
Typically in these cases, CTA surveillance video would be part of the investigation as police try to determine the circumstances and the possible identity of the shooter.
