A man charged with beating his mother to death in the northwest suburbs is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
43-year-old Elizabeth Peralta-Guadalupe was found severely beaten by Northlake Police Sunday morning.
She was later pronounced dead.
After interviewing those in the apartment at the time of Peralta-Guadalupe's death, detectives held two people of interest for questioning.
Police later said one of them was a witness and released without charges, leaving 20-year-old Larry Dorado, the victim's son, as the remaining suspect.
Based on physical evidence, interviews with witnesses and autopsy results, detectives concluded Dorado "viciously" beat his mother to death while inside his apartment.
Dorado was charged with first-degree murder, punishable up to a minimum of 20 years in prison.
