WASHINGTON D.C. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A judge in Washington D.C. has sentenced a Chicago man to ten days in prison for his role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Athanasios Zoyganeles pleaded guilty last year to misdemeanor parading and demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. In addition to the ten day prison sentence, he’ll be on probation for nine months and pay $500.
Court documents said he posted on Facebook in December 2020 encouraging people to ‘just rush capital hill. They can’t stop a million people’.
On January 6, court papers said he spent about five minutes inside the building taking pictures and video before leaving.
