(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Mount Prospect continue looking for two people who attempted to steal a vehicle from a driveway early Thursday and fired gunshots at the home owner when he confronted them.
The incident happened on I Oka Avenue near Busse Avenue when a man walking his dog observed someone trying to steal his vehicle, Mount Prospect Police Officer Greg Sill said. When the man inquired what was going on, the suspect fled to a waiting SUV driven by another person, he said.
That’s when one of the two suspects fired multiple gunshots at the man before both fled.
Sill says the man was able to dive for cover and suffered minor injuries as a result. The man was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The gunshots frightened the dog, which ran off but is back home.
An investigation continues.
