CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police have issued a community alert about an attempted kidnapping in Portage Park on the Northwest Side.

Police are looking for a man who’s about 28 to 30-years-old and was seen driving a yellow convertible Corvette with a black top.

The department said he threatened to force a 15-year-old girl into his car while she was waiting for a bus near Addison and Central.

This was at about 8:20 a.m., on a school day two weeks ago. Police said a woman nearby stepped in and told the man to leave the girl alone while he claimed he knew the girl and then drove off.

Area 5 detectives said parents can start a patrol at their child’s school by calling the CAPS office.
