UPDATE: Ex-husband murdered Geneva woman then took his own life, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Geneva police are investigating a murder-suicide that happened late Wednesday afternoon inside a single-family home.

Police in Geneva said 49-year old Chad Dockery and his 48-year old ex-wife Amanda Dockery were shot to death at 1050 Pebble Beach Court. That's along the Eagle Brook Golf Course.

Police said Chad Dockery had admitted in a 9-1-1 call that he had killed his ex-wife. He killed himself in a car with one shot just after police arrived.

Michael Sloan was Amanda Dockery's neighbor. He told CBS-2.

"It's just surreal. Yesterday, I was talking and gave her a hug. Haven't seen her in six months and, to come outside, see something like this is horrible," Sloan said.

Geneva's police chief said his heart goes out to the families involved as well as to the community.

Police said no one else was in the home when the shooting happened.

Geneva police are investigating the relationship between the two people. There were no children home at the time of the shooting.
