CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A survey says it's not just voters who want to see changes in how Chicago wards on how wards are re-mapped.

In a first-of-its-kind survey, CHANGE Illinois and 12 other community organizations asked candidates to publicly share their views on ward remapping.

In the mayoral race, five out of nine candidates completed the survey: Ja’mal Green, Brandon Johnson, Roderick Sawyer, Paul Vallas, and Willie Wilson - all said some type of change is necessary.

Aldermanic candidates from 38 of Chicago's 50 wards participated in the survey with a strong majority saying there needs to be reform to the current ward mapping process that has council members negotiating ward shapes behind closed doors.
