CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson is continuing to lay the groundwork for unity leading up to his inauguration on May 15.

Johnson has met with Mayor Lightfoot and Governor Pritzker and now he’s announcing his inaugural chairs for what he calls the Chicago for the People Transition Team. They include Pritzker and Lt. Governor Julianna Stratton, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, along with the Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasurer.

Both U.S. senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, along with local congressmen, the Cook County president, and others will be part of the team as well.

“Our work would not be possible without the leadership and support of our inaugural chairs and I look forward to working together in order to achieve our shared vision for a safer, stronger Chicago," Johnson said in a statement.

The mayor-elect said he hopes for a unifying transition and will continue to meet with business and community leaders, and constituents up through inauguration day.
