'You're out of order': Dolton mayor once again feeling heat over her spending
THORNTON TOWNSHIP (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Tensions were once again high Tuesday night at the meeting of the Thornton Township.
Board members are calling on Board Supervisor Tiffany Henyard, who's also the mayor Dolton, to be more transparent with her spending.
Trustee Chris Gonzalez said there are random charges on the township issued credit card that the board did not approve.
"[We] voted not to approve, and it somehow magically they end up on the credit card," Gonzalez said during the meeting.
"You're going to have to point that out," Henyard responded.
She called the board "dysfunctional" and demanded respect.
"I am the leader for Thorntown Township. I am the supervisor of Thorntown Township, and I'm going to make sure you all give me the respect and stop playing these games every time you come to the meeting," Henyard declared.
Trustee Carmen Carlisle fought back.
"Mayor, you're out of order. Respect is earned and is not demanded," Carlisle said.
She said she invites former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate Henyard at Thornton Township..
Lightfoot was hired by the Dolton village board members to investigate Henyard's handling of village finances there.
