CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Mayor Brandon Johnson is sidestepping questions about the firing of the City’s Public Health Commissioner.

Dr. Allison Arwady was reportedly fired over the phone by the mayor’s Chief of Staff Rich Guidas.

The mayor was asked whether it was “payback” from the Chicago Teachers Union because Arwady had pushed for schools to reopen during COVID sooner than the CTU wanted.

Johnson quoted the late rapper, Tupac Shakur.

“You can’t always go by the things that you hear, right? `Real eyes realize real lies,’“ Johnson said.

The mayor, of course, is a former teacher and CTU organizer.
