(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The cat's out of the brown paper bag in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, where people have spotted what appears to be the latest experiment from McDonald's.

It's called CosMc’s. Although the company has kept the spinoff mostly under wraps, it looks like the fast-food giant is building a mockup near Boughton and Weber Roads.

CosMc, a McDonald’s character from the 1980s and 1990s, is a space-themed creature that craves food from the Golden Arches. Social media posts suggest CosMc's will focus on breakfast food and specialized drinks.

R.V. Hottovy -- head of analytical research at the foot traffic analysis firm Placer.AI in Chicago -- says formats like CosMc’s could get people to try indoor dining after nearly four years of drive-thru’s and app-based ordering.

No word yet on when the store will open.
