(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – There will not be school again at Buffalo Grove High School on Thursday due to a fire this week, but that will give students additional time to grieve four classmates who died in a traffic accident.
Some stood silently on Wednesday looking at the flowers, candles and balloons that served as a memorial along Dundee Road. Wheeling Police said the three-vehicle crash happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday at Dundee and Schoenbeck.
Killed were Ricky Barcenas, Kevin Hernandez, Richard De Ita and Jesus Rodriguez, who ranged in age from 16 to 18. Police say speeding was a factor, in addition to a vehicle running a red light.
Another passenger in the boy’s car and two drivers were injured.
Ricky Barcenas’ mom describes him in an online fundraiser as a wonderful son and a hard worker who helped everyone.
