CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There was reaction in Chicago to Monday night’s mass shooting at Michigan State University, in which three students were killed and five others were hospitalized in critical condition.

Barrett Laspesa is a manager at Tin Lizzie, one of the Chicago area bars where MSU alums hang out. He called the mass shooting at MSU senseless.

“We’re going to talk it over with management and staff and to see if there’s something we can do, if there’s a fund, something that we can help with the campus or students, alumni, whatever we can do,” Laspesa said.

Laspesa said his sister was a student at Northern Illinois University 15 years ago Tuesday, when five students were killed and 17 others injured in a mass shooting there. He said college campuses should be places of good memories, not things like mass shootings.

“You have young people, you know, innocent college kids just out on their campus,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking. I mean, it’s devastating.”
