CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Northwest suburban Metra commuters might want to plan ahead, as the railroad announced more midday delays.
Metra said Union Pacific Railroad needs more time to complete tie replacement work on the Northwest Line between Barrington and Crystal Lake. That means continued delays of up to 30 minutes, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The tie work on the section between Barrington and Crystal Lake is expected to have the greatest impact on delays.
Metra said tie replacement is essential and must be done at regular intervals to maintain track speeds and service levels.
Delays are expected through Tuesday. The work on the section was expected to be done last Friday.
