CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A drive-by shooting on the Southwest Side has left a migrant dead.
According to Chicago Police, the 28-year-old man was standing outside the Gage Park migrant shelter near 55th and Garfield Boulevard Saturday afternoon when a car pulled up and an unknown suspect opened fire on the man.
He was shot in the head and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. He eventually succumbed to his injuries.
CPD’s Area One detectives are investigating.
The Fifteenth Ward Ald. Ray Lopez represents the area where the shooting occurred and posted to social media, saying the victim was a migrant but not a resident of the shelter.
Lopez also believes that the man was targeted.
