(WBBM NEWSRADIO) —  Chicago police have arrested a man who they say shot another man and shot at officers on the West Side over the weekend.

A man from Minnesota is due in court Monday on attempted murder charges.

Officers arrested 45-year-old Tiresias Young of Duluth near Le Moyne Avenue and Massasoit Street in North Austin at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police say he is the person who officers saw shoot a 36-year-old man minutes before, and then allegedly shot at two officers.

Police say Young hit a squad car and one officer returned fire. No police were hurt.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

In addition to attempted first degree murder, Young faces a charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

COPA is investigating.
