(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Grundy County man, who lost his dog earlier this week, said he was “blown away” by the outpouring of support on social media that led to his dog being found.
Nate Coughlin’s yellow lab, Jaxx, ran off on Wednesday afternoon. He’s done that before, but he’s never been gone long. This time, Jaxx was gone for about 30 hours.
On Friday, Jaxx and Coughlin were reunited. Someone who saw a social media post about Jaxx going missing found the dog near a post office in Morris — about 10 miles from home.
Coughlin’s number is on the dog’s collar.
“He goes, ‘Dude it’s crazy, I just found your dog and I just shared your post two hours before I saw him,’” Coughlin told WBBM. “It definitely helped that everybody was sharing the post, and who knows if he would have ever been found if people weren’t sharing the post like they were. It’s pretty cool that people were doing that for me.”
Coughlin said Jaxx is his “hunting buddy.”
“He goes out in the boat with me and hunts ducks, and he sleeps in bed with me at home every night,” he said.
In a Facebook post, Coughlin thanked everyone who shared his post, as well as all of the posts that others made and shared. He said there were over 1,000 shares on his original post.
As for Jaxx, Coughlin said he was exhausted when he was found in Morris — but he’s back to normal now.
