SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A busload of moms will be heading to Springfield today to push for greater gun safety legislation.
Today is Advocacy Day in Springfield, and the group, Moms Demand Action, will be among those meeting with lawmakers pushing for legislation they want to see enacted, gun safety laws. Lauren Harper told CBS-2 she thinks about her daughters’ safety every time she takes them to school.
“When they would get out of the car, I would say to myself, sort of mumbling under my breath, ‘Don’t get shot.’ It was such an unsustainable way to feel without actually taking action,” Harper said.
Among pieces of legislation the moms group would like to see are those on safe gun storage, clamping down on the availability of guns to domestic violence abusers and holding the gun industry responsible for deceptive marketing to children.
