(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are warning about more burglaries at plumbing and electrical supply stores on the north and northwest sides.
An alert from detectives outlines two more break-ins early Sunday morning.
They are the latest in a list of 32 burglaries to stores and work vehicles since early February the department has tracked.
Many of the victims have been hit repeatedly.
The owner of B.E. Atlas, whose name will not be shared out of safety concerns, tells WBBM burglars have tried to break into his store six times, with the most recent just this Tuesday morning.
He says they were able to get into part of the building Sunday morning, but new security measures prevented them from entering Tuesday morning.
The frustration has led him to consider buying a gun.
“It is something that I never thought I would think about. It’s not something I believe in. But, you know, how many times can someone slap you in the face before you’ve had enough.”
He believes the one crew is responsible. One burglar was wearing the same pants in all the security videos.
Chicago Police are looking for a 2024 Black Volkswagen Atlas SUV with Illinois license plates ED21641.
