HOMER GLEN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Will County Sheriff’s office has provided an update on the investigation into the deaths of two people, a Glendale Heights police sergeant and his wife in their home in Homer Glen on Sunday evening.

The sheriff’s office said the 18-year-old daughter of 47-year-old Michael Huff and 38-year-old Jacquelyn Huff heard arguing and then gunshots and called 911.

Their bodies were found on the kitchen floor by responding deputies.
A small caliber handgun was nearby. Investigators determined it was a murder-suicide.

Michael Huff shot his wife three times in the head and then shot himself in the head, according to the sheriff's office. A 6-year-old child was also home at the time.

Neither of their children witnessed the incident. The sheriff’s office said deputies had been called to the home on Shannon Drive in the past, once to assist Jacquelyn Huff in removing belongings from the home in mid-October.

A statement from the sheriff’s office said detectives still have additional work to do on the case and urges anyone involved in a domestic violence situation to reach out to a domestic violence helpline.
