CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - New ramp closures have gone into effect as IDOT continues a long construction project on the Kennedy expressway.
Drivers trying to exit the inbound Kennedy on the city's Near North Side will have to detour for a couple of weeks.
Monday morning IDOT crews shut down the exit to Division as part of phase one of the construction project. This is in addition to the exit ramp at North Avenue being closed, meaning drivers trying to get into Wicker Park or West Town will need to either exit early at Armitage or later at Ogden.
Entrance ramps onto the Kennedy from both Armitage and North Avenue are blocked for the next couple weeks as well.
This first phase of the 3 year-long Kennedy project is expected to wrap up by the end of the month.
All lanes will be open until March when phase two starts which will see the express lanes closed for most of 2024.
