
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hunters in Illinois harvested more than 150,000 deer this past season.
Archery hunters took a preliminary total of more than 69,000 deer during their season which was October 1- January 15, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Traditional firearm hunters took nearly 77,000 deer, yet their season was only three days each in November and December.
There also was a special 7-day season in December and January, which is used to slow the spread of chronic wasting disease in the Illinois deer herd.
