(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Four new lawsuits have been filed against Dr. Vernon Cannon and his former employer, DuPage Medical Group, which is now known as Duly Health and Care.

There are now a total of 16 lawsuits with another 37 expected to be filed later this week.

One of those cases involves Elizabeth Gudella, who started seeing Cannon when she was a teenager.

“There’s been a lot of scenarios that he put me into that are very wrong,” she said. “Commenting on tattoos that I have, fast forward to now: He is undressed, showing me his tattoos and trying to meet up with me outside of office hours.”

Christina Deeke was one of Cannon’s former patients. She said one of her appointments began with him commenting on her lower abdomen tattoos.

“What medical personnel would be taking off their shirt and showing their patients all of their tattoos … he would unbutton his shirt, took off his lab jacket and proceeded to show me that he was fully tatted,” Deeke said.

Another victim, Karin Stortz, came forward in January 2023 and said Cannon was noticeably intoxicated during a prenatal appointment in Wheaton.

“[He had] dilated pupils, slurred speech, wasn't even making very good eye contact with me,” Stortz said.

Cannon now faces 41 misconduct claims. Duly Health and Care, meanwhile, is accused of negligence for keeping Cannon on staff despite patient complaints. Officials with the company noted he hasn’t worked there since 2020.
