(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Now that the state has rejected a Brighton Park site for a winterized migrant encampment, work could shift to a Morgan Park property already approved by the Chicago City Council.
The site at 115th and Halsted is about 6.5 acres of parking lot and a shuttered grocery store. There’s a plan to put affordable housing here, but that’s now on hold.
Ald. Ronnie Mosely previously opposed the idea of a migrant camp at the property, but he changed his position after the city promised the camp would only be up until next November.
Residents polled on the street Wednesday don’t like the idea of a migrant camp.
