CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Friends and relatives are reeling after a mother and daughter from Garfield Park were killed leaving a concert in St. Louis earlier this week.
Laticha Bracero, 42 and her daughter Alyssa Cordova, 21 had just seen rap star Drake perform at the Enterprise Center when police said a Jeep ran a red light and hit them in a crosswalk shortly after midnight Wednesday morning.
Nicole Rivera told CBS 2 her cousin was killed at the scene while her daughter died at the hospital.
"They're our family, and we love them, and we're going to miss them - and they're not just two people who died, you know, trying to cross the street."
A Go Fund Me campaign for the mom-daughter pair who Rivera describes as energetic and fun-loving has raised more than $12,000 so far.
Michelle Del Bosque organized the fundraiser. She wrote that Alyssa was going to college and working part-time for Starbucks. Allyssa loved going to concerts and her mom would always escort her.
"The two were inseparable and shared a strong bond," Del Bosque wrote.
Police said the Jeep driver- Monte Henderson, 22 faces involuntary manslaughter and other felony charges. He and three other people were injured in the crash.
