CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Karen Phillips, the mother of Kierra Coles—a postal worker who went missing nearly five years ago while she was pregnant—asked for help from the public in solving her daughter’s disappearance on Tuesday.
Coles was last seen leaving her apartment with her boyfriend in October of 2018.
He returned alone. Over the ensuing days he was seen removing things from the apartment. Phillips spoke to the press near the apartment building, which is located at 81st Street and Vernon Avenue.
“We’re trying to keep going, to fight, to help bring my daughter home,” Phillips said.
“I will not stop until I get some kind of closure about where Kierra’s at, what happened to Kierra, if she’s coming home or not. I just need closure. Please help me bring my daughter home. If there’s anybody that knows anything, or saw anything—it might be something small that might help us.”
Phillips said she believes the boyfriend had something to do with her daughter’s disappearance.
Chicago police said he was uncooperative and moved away.
The mother was joined by activists who, along with the U.S. Postal Service, are offering a reward of nearly $70,000.
