(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 23-year-old Broadview man accused of driving through a red light at more than 90 miles per hour and causing a fatal collision is expected to appear in court this weekend.

The crash occurred early Oct. 28 at 151st Street and Harlem Avenue when a southbound Kia Forte failed to stop for a red light and struck a left-turning Nissan Sentra that had a green arrow, officials said.

The Sentra's driver later died at the hospital. Investigators determined the driver of the Forte – Elijah A. White – ignored the traffic signal while traveling more than 90 miles per hour, Orland Park police officials said.

White is charged with reckless homicide, a Class 3 felony, and was expected in Cook County court Saturday, police said.

No further information was available.
