
GLENVIEW (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A massive crash on I-294 this morning resulted in one person dead and a traffic jam that lasted for over six hours.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-294, in Glenview, right where Milwaukee Avenue crosses. The pileup involved at seven vehicles- a semi and 6 passenger vehicles.
Illinois State Police confirmed one person in the crash has now died after suffering life-threatening injuries and being transported to an area hospital. The Glenview Fire Department said that 10 other people were injured, with nine treated and released at the scene and one victim transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for minor injuries.
The two right lanes on the southbound side of the Tri-State reopened at approximately at 12:45 p.m., after the closure between Willow Road and Dempster Avenue lasted for over six hours.
