(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Authorities now say four people have been hurt in a shooting outside the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center in Blue Island.
Family members of a 19-year-old girl shot and killed almost three weeks ago say a shooting outside a memorial event for her in Blue Island this afternoon was an act of retaliation.
Authorities now say one person is in custody for the shooting, which injured four people outside the Salvation Army Worship and Community center on 127th Street in.
Police say they're still investigating what led to the shooting, which left one person critically injured.
“If it is indeed a retaliatory incident, we do not know for sure yet,” City administrator Tom Wogan said.
“But obviously, you know, they’ve said this area has seen too many of these. And it's always tragic and it's always sad, and to see that sadness just doubled on top of itself is terrible.”
A Salvation Army spokesman tells our news desk that they're praying for everyone involved.
