CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Public schools in Mundelein are among the first to return to classrooms this upcoming school year and the districts said they’re ready for classes to begin on Thursday.
The school districts said they have enough substitute teachers bus drivers, disinfectant and other supplies to begin what could be another unpredictable year.
That's what Peter Gill, spokesman for Mundelein Elementary School District 75 and High School 120, said, adding the schools are working to give students as much space as possible in the buildings, especially during lunch when masks come off.
"We're going to keep them as far apart as possible, as as you know, is that seating fits and we're just going to kind of have guidance with the people who are working in the cafeteria that day," Gill told WBBM Newsradio.
Helping with spacing is Mundelein High Schools open campus policy for lunch. Parents will have the option to sign their students up for once weekly COVID-19 testing using the SHIELD saliva-based tests developed at the University of Illinois.
