CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Employees at the Museum of Science & Industry have moved closer to unionizing.
Employees have filed union representation petitions with the National Labor Relations Board, triggering a union election in the coming weeks.
MSI employee Kristin Jamerson said support for the union has been growing.
"We are excited, because we have been meeting a lot of new people across teams and literally unionizing-coming together to support this move."
The union would represent about 140 employees in the museum’s guest experience, guest operations and education departments.
The Museum of Science and Industry released a statement which said, in part, that it respects the employees' right to make a decision on union representation.
