(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Naperville woman is working to finish the documentary started by her late husband.
Sarah Potter was hoping her husband’s mentor would finish the documentary after Scott Potter died in July 2020 of complications from pancreatitis. She initially dismissed the suggestion that she do it.
But the Naperville mother eventually agreed to take on the role of creative director. She also broadened the focus beyond children diagnosed with the neurological disease Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM) to include her husband’s struggle with pancreatitis.
Sarah Potter said the documentary When the Lotus Blooms and the stories behind it will resonate with a lot of people.
“We may not know somebody that has AFM, but I think everybody, especially right now, can related to going through something unexpected the upends your life suddenly,” she said.
A Kickstarter campaign to complete the film has raised more than $18,000. The effort runs through March 18.
