CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - With the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race in the rearview mirror, crews have been working for days to reopen the roads around Grant Park.

Officials said the streets in and around Grant Park will reopen in a phased approach, with priority given to DuSable Lake Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue.

As of Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., all lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive have reopened.

Michigan Avenue, meanwhile, was fully reopened by Monday afternoon.

Drivers will have to wait use some of the race course’s inner streets, such as Balbo Drive, Columbus Drive and Jackson Boulevard. Those roads will stay closed for several days, some more than a week.

The last of the road closures will be cleared July 18.

In the coming days, the WBBM traffic center will be sure to update drivers when streets reopen.
