CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There’s new street closures and more to come as NASCAR weekend approaches.
The new closures taking effect tonight include northbound Michigan Avenue between Balbo and Jackson as well as Roosevelt between Columbus and DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Southbound Lake Shore is already closed through Grant Park.

“Expect a little bit of congestion with those closures, and we really encourage folks to take public transit, to look at available information, there’s a lot of it, about what’s closed and when…Take your time, add a little extra time getting to your destination,” Chicago Department of Transportation's Gia Biaggi said.
Closures could be pushed into next week should the weather push the main race to Monday.
It’s a good idea to steer clear of the area around Grant Park.
