CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some CTA passengers can now take a brief trip into Chicago's past.
The CTA, in partnership with the Chicago Film Archives, has launched a new, one-of-a-kind temporary art installation at the Cicero station at 4800 West Lake Street. It's an exhibition of home movies and amateur films.
“It looks beautiful. And, one of the reasons we like this particular station is that, at the street level, it is surrounded by glass windows…You can see the reflection of this exhibit from the outside, and particularly at night,” Nancy Watrous, Founder and Executive Director of the Chicago Film Archives, said.
Rebecca Hall of the Chicago Film Archives told WBBM sometimes art is most beautiful when you did not plan on seeing it.
“It feels really good to bring it out into public where all kinds of regular people can see it, people who aren’t going and looking for it, like a researcher…just kind of make something that people can just enjoy in the course of the day,” Hall said.
The silent films have a runtime of 48-minutes. They're now running day and night for the next year.
