(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There's a new legal fight brewing involving the owner of one of the buildings that overlook Wrigley Field.

The Cubs have filed a federal lawsuit against the owner of the Wrigley View Rooftop building which is on Waveland Avenue west of the left-field foul pole after contract negotiations reportedly broke down.

Twenty years ago, rooftop owners cut a deal with the Cubs to share ticket and billboard revenue with the team.

Since then, the team has bought many of those rooftops and have continued to honor existing contracts.

Now, reports suggest the Cubs are asking for a bigger cut of that revenue and the team claims Wrigley View is selling a view of the ballpark without a license.

Lawyers for the Cubs say that without the team's permission, Wrigley View cannot sell tickets for events at Wrigley Field.

The lawsuit asks for a permanent injunction to stop the sales.
