(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — New security measures will be in place at Chicago's 31st Street Beach, after recent violence at or near the beach.
Alderman Lamont Robinson (4th) said new security measures include moving up the curfew at the beach from 11 p.m. to 9 p.m., at least temporarily.
The alderman's office also says there will be new fencing at the beach, as well as additional bag checks, and violence interrupters will be at the beach as well.
The moves come after a series of violent incidents at the 31st Street Beach.
That includes one last weekend, when police say a 17-year-old female stabbed a 26-year-old woman. Investigators say the woman, who had a license to carry a concealed gun, shot and wounded the teen.
Just over a week before that, police say a man and a woman were shot and killed at the beach.
