(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If the Bears have a zero on the team this year, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
The NFL has announced a rule change allowing many football position players to sport the offbeat numeral (not offensive and defensive lineman, though).
College football has permitted players to wear zero since the 2020 season, and other sports have also gone below No. 1 for years. The Chicago sports scene has had its share of zero-wearers, including Marcus Stroman of the Cubs, Billy Hamilton of the White Sox and the Bulls’ Orlando Woolridge.
There's no word yet on what Bears player might end up wearing the previously taboo number.
