(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police say no charges will be filed in a deadly road rage shooting in the northwest suburbs this week.

Investigators say 19-year-old Malachi Johnson of Streamwood has been identified as the person who was killed in the shooting.

Police say Johnson got into a road rage incident while driving southbound on the tri-state around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The dispute continued on to the 10,000 block of Irving Park Road and both cars stopped next to each other.

Johnson got out and approached the other vehicle and he and another man both pulled out guns and began firing.

Johnson was hit in the chest and died. A passenger in his car was also shot. She was treated at an area hospital and released.

Schiller Park Police say the man who shot Johnson had a valid FOID card and concealed carry license and fired back at Johnson in self defense, so no charges will be filed.

The other man and a passenger in his car were not hit.
