
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Police searched parts of the University of Chicago campus Tuesday night for an unfounded report of a shooting, which also prompted school officials to issue an alert.
The possible hoax came as Bradley University in Peoria issued a lockdown order that was later lifted.
The University of Chicago reported police activity around Regenstein Library and told the public to avoid the area. Officials later announced the all-clear: “Police searched numerous buildings in response to an anonymous report and found no sign of threat.”
Bradley university lifted a shelter-in-place order Tuesday night.
The incidents come after a spate of "swatting" incidents at Chicago area schools.
