
NORTH AURORA, IL (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - NORTH AURORA, IL (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police in North Aurora have provided new information regarding a dog attack Thursday afternoon that injured a 6-year-old boy, his mother and the dog’s owner.
Police were called to a townhouse on Hidden Creek Lane for what was described as a dog attack in progress.
The boy had been mauled and his mother was injured while fighting it off and the pit bull was attacking its owner, when police arrived.
The house was locked. The fire department brought an uninjured 2-year-old boy out a bedroom window and firefighters got the front door and the garage door open. The dog’s owner was taken out the front door.
When the garage was opened, police said, the dog appeared from around a corner covered in blood. An officer fired four shots. The dog ran to a bedroom and was found still alive under a bed.
He was taken away by animal control to be euthanized.
The 6-year-old boy and the man who owned the dog were hospitalized with serious injuries. The boy’s mother had bite marks on her hands.
