CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Lincoln Park record shop has closed its doors after two decades on Clark Street.

A steady stream of customers has been coming into Dave’s Records since Dave Crain announced on Election Day that he was permanently closing Sunday night.

He has worked in the building at Wrightwood and Clark for 35 years - before he bought the vinyl collection from Second Hand Tunes and opened his new store Labor Day of 2002.

The building’s new owners plan to eventually knock it down and Crain had a triple bypass a few years ago, which spurred him to hang up his headphones.

"I'm an emotional guy, so there were a lot of tears over stories over the six weeks or so," he said. "I've hardened up a little bit, but now that we're in the last day it's a lot different because people I haven't seen in a long time are coming in.

He cut prices in half and has been greeted by lots of customers as he goes out in a blaze of glory, he says.

In the next few days he has plenty of work to do - packing up what’s left.

After that, he’s going on a family trip to Hawaii and maybe selling the rest of his inventory online.

Crain has these parting words: "Rock on."
